Kuwait UPR 2015

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique mechanism of the Human Rights Council aiming at improving the human rights situation on the ground of each of the United Nations Member States.

Under this mechanism, the human rights situation of all UN Member States is reviewed every four and a half years during three Working Group sessions dedicated to 14 States each.

The second cycle review of the State of Kuwait was held on January 28, 2015 during the 21st session of the Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review Working Group. The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mrs. Hend Al-Subaih headed Kuwait’s delegation to this review.

She presented the national report of Kuwait to the Working Group and reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to protecting, promoting and safeguarding human rights at national, regional and international levels.

Mrs. Al-Subaih was accompanied by a number of representatives of ministries and public institutions who shed light on progress achieved by Kuwait in the various domains of human rights.
